We are concerned about the impact of the new Forex regulations under consideration by the CFTC.  In a conversation that we had with CFTC attorney, Peter Sanchez Esq., the direction that they are headed became very clear.

The large number of Forex scams and ponzi schemes during the last few years has raised the alarm regarding this industry and they are going to do something about it that might affect the way we communicate.  For example, Mr. Sanchez told us that if we are in a chat room and if we are influencing your trading decisions by what we say and that if we are aware of our influence to any degree, then we are required to be a Certified Trading Advisors, and be members of the NFA, and abide by all of their unbelievable restrictions.

The NFA website has a short video link describing these restrictions. The video on the NFA main page (www.nfa.futures.org) also describes their intent to clamp down on chat rooms, blogs and tweets.  It seems to us that their efforts to stop criminals might limit our ability to communicate with each other.

How would you feel if this and every other website was censored?

Laurel and Hardy attempted to include in one of their films a scene of a man who tried to commit suicide in a railroad yard by lying down on the tracks.  It seems that every train was switched to another track just before reaching him, so he finally gave up.  The New York censor board deemed that it was not healthy for society to see such a scene so they had it removed.

Many of us talk about the good and the bad trades we make.  Their new rules will at a minimum make us reluctant to talk about the good trades for fear that they will try to force us to give equal time to our bad trades.  I don’t know about you, but we would rather spend time discussing and trying to replicate the good ones.  How about you?
We think that Internet social websites like this one help everyone.  Have you been inspired by any blogs or tweets?  Tell us of how you have been helped?  How would you feel if all of us were censored?
So, have you had any bad trades lately?

Google got out of China and found a new place in nearby HongKong, would the same be true here, trying to eliminate forex scams and Ponzi schemes by limiting access to cyberspace would prove futile since there will be another means of communications. Because FXCM US does not allow hedging, I now use FXCM UK. I cannot see the logic behind all of these regulations, for starting forex trading guys like me, it will be a negative impact as I watch AND learn the different trading styles of people around me but in the end, it will be me deciding my trades NOT the trading pros at twitter.

Amazing. That would be really bad in deed. Sure hope that doesn't go through. I think EVERYONE knows that ALL trading is risky. Furthermore, everyone should take every tip, idea and comment with a “grain of salt” and NEVER blindly follow anyone's trade recommendation without fully understanding the reasoning behind it and agreeing with it. We should “own” our own trades, and accept the risk and manage within accordance to our own plan and tolerance. We really do not nee more regulation. Regulation is just control and eroding our freedoms. Where has it gotten us in these last 100 years. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help STOP this from going through. Thanks for the “heads up”

Wow. I can almost understand the 10x margin rule. I don't agree with it, but I can understand it.

This is just plain leotarded. Policing the internet is like trying to warm warm the ocean.

China is REALLY REALLY REALLY good at policing, with an unending army of “editors”, and even they can't stop information/websites from getting through. How is little ol' CFTC going to accomplish anything?

I'm by no means anti-government, and the CFTC should be commended for its (failed) efforts to prevent the current financial crisis, but with this, they've bitten more off than they can chew, and it tastes like poop anyway, so they should just spit it out and move on.
